John Greco

Owner

John Greco is a third generation owner of the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home. He has been licensed to practice funeral directing and embalming since 1988. John holds dual licenses in the States of West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. John is a Certified Crematory Operator.

He is very active in our community, serving on Weirton Medical Center Board of Trustees, Past Chairman Weirton Salvation Army Advisory Board, Weirton United Way 2012 Campaign Chairman, Past Chairman of Weirton Junior Achievement,and a charter member of the Weirton Heights Rotary.

In 2014, John was inducted into the Weirton Madonna High School Hall of Fame.

Professionally, John is consistanly ranked, by the Funeral Service Research Group, in the top one percent of funeral directors in the United States, that provide value to their families. He is very active with the Selected Independent Funeral Homes, where he travels throughout the country learning and sharing his knowledge of funeral service with members of his study group.

In his free time John enjoys spending time with his girls, camaraderie with his friends, exercising, golfing, trail riding, and attending Pittsburgh Steeler games. Most of all, John finds his greatest enjoyment in helping others.

Scott Myers

Funeral Director

Scott Myers is a Cum Laude graduate of Brooke High School, the Weirton campus of WVNCC, and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He lives in Wellsburg with his wife Lisa and has three daughters, Brionna, Allie, and Paige. Scott is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the state of WV, a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, the American Society of Embalmers, and the Wellsburg Christian Church. He also attends various training seminars to continue learning new techniques and brining new ideas to the business. Scott is very passionate about his work and has been with Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home since June 2001.

Anthony J. Bernardi

Funeral Director

Anthony is a graduate of West Virginia University and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He resides in Chester with his wife Michelle who has been employed by the Hancock County School System for over thirty years . Anthony is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the state of WV, a member of the National Funeral Director's Association, the Weirton Heights Rotary Club and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chester. He is very musically savvy, singing in his church choir, cantoring at funerals and playing drums in his ten piece big band. He and his wife Michelle enjoy trying new restaurants and attending performances in the Cultural District in Pittsburgh. Anthony has been associated with the funeral industry for over twenty-five years and is honored to serve the people of Weirton.

Staff Minister

Everyone loves Larry. He is a natural caregiver. The gift that Larry has could not be taught in school. It is a God given grace. He is very active in his church, as he serves as the pastor. He loves his hometown of Weirton and could not imagine calling anywhere else home. Larry spent most of his career working as a gang leader in the labor gang of Weirton Steel. Larry and his wife Jane have two adult children and two little grandsons. He cherishes the time he gets to spend with them. Never known for passing up a good meal or a cup of coffee, Larry gets all his energy from serving the Lord and helping others.

Funeral Service Associate

Diane Pastoric was born and raised in Weirton, West Virginia. She is the proud mother of 2 children, a granddaughter and 2 great-grandchildren. She is a very active member of the Weirton community, having held many positions in the GFWC Weirton Woman’s Club, most recently as its President. Diane is a member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church; Church Women United and Christian Mothers, where she served as Past President. She has been an active volunteer at Serra Manor in Weirton for several years and served on the Education Committee for the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Stanley Wodnicki

Funeral Service Associate

Stanley Wodnicki has been an associate at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home since 2012. After 30 years of service, he retired from WSX, having worked in the Logistics Department managing the transportation, shipping and warehousing of steel. He formerly owned and operated his own Home Maintenance Services business before accepting a position with a newly-formed trucking company. He is a Madonna High School and West Liberty State College graduate. He enjoys landscaping, playing golf and spending time with family and grand children.

Joseph Paterra

Funeral Service Associate

Joe has been an associate at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home since 2018. He previously worked at Weirton Steel for 41 years, having worked 21 years in the tin mill and 20 years in the general offices running the company print shop. He was born and raised in Weirton, graduating from Madonna High School. He married Anita Avona Paterra and has two sons, Joe and Chad and one grandson, Gianni, who is the light of his life. His hobbies include gardening, wine making, bicycling and flying remote control planes. He also enjoys spending time with his family, friends and his wine making club, The Brotherhood of the Grape.

Mark A. Zilich, CCO

Certified Crematory Operator

Mark has been a life long resident of Weirton. He graduated from Weir High School in 1980. He is married to the former Tammie Zerkle. Through the years Tammie and Mark have enjoyed caring for their pet collies Sampson, Heidi and Milo.

One of Marks greatest joys in life is helping others, he is always first to volunteer to lend a hand.

In his free time, you can find Mark riding on two wheels whether it be riding mountain bikes in the woods, bicylces on the street or riding his motorcycle. He also enjoys deer hunting with his brothers, fly fishing with his good friend Gene or barbecuing with family and friends. We are very fortunate to have Mark care for our facilities.

In February of 2022, after the successful completion of the National Funeral Directors Association's cremation certification program and certification examination Mark became a Certified Crematory Operator.

Lifelong resident of Weirton

Graduate of Weir High School, West Libert State College, and a cum laude graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.

Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in West Virginia and Pennsylvinia.

Retired from Kroger Company with 49 years of service.

Member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church. Serve as an usher and a member of Parish Councel.

Volunteer on the allocation committee of the Weirton United Way.

Chairmamn of the City of Weirton Planning Commission.

Member of the Weirton Lions Club, Order of Ahepa, Elks, and Moose.

Enjoy reading, gardening and baking.

Dee Gill

Office Manager

Dee Gill currently serves as office manager for Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home. Dee grew up in Wellsburg, WV and is a graduate of Brooke High School. Prior to coming to Greco-Hertnick, she worked in the Human Resources Department for Interstate Hotel Corporation in Pittsburgh. She and her husband, Steve, live in Weirton. She has two adult sons, PJ and Brian. Dee is always ready and willing to assist the families that come to Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home.
